Eastern Shore Family YMCA
Be the reason a child finds their voice, lifts their team, and shines on the mat. As a YMCA Youth Sports Volunteer Coach, you’re helping young athletes build confidence, develop skills, and feel a true sense of belonging. Our youth sports programs focus on more than just the game. Each season creates a positive, inclusive environment where kids of all abilities are encouraged to learn, grow, and have fun. With one practice during the week and a game on the weekend, volunteer coaches lead basic skill development, teamwork activities, and friendly competition, all while modeling the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. No coaching experience? No problem. The Y provides training, resources, and ongoing support so you feel confident leading your team. Whether you are a parent, student, or community member, your time and encouragement can have a lasting impact on a child’s experience. Recreational Coaches typically commit to an 8-week season, volunteering about 2 hours per week for 1-hour practices and 1-hour games. The 3-5 age group practices for 30 minutes and then plays a 30-minute game right after, usually on Saturday, for a 1-hour-per-week commitment. Volunteers must complete the required onboarding steps, including training and safety protocols, before the season begins. At the Y, every child plays, every voice matters, and every moment is an opportunity to grow. Join us in creating a fun, safe, and meaningful experience for youth in our community. Sign up today and help shape the next generation through sports.
