Y on Granby
A member of the Center Advisory Board is recognized as a key community leader who is interested in furthering the mission, vision, and values of the Y on Granby and the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. Volunteer leaders exemplify the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith in all aspects of volunteer performance and their relationship with others. Their work will serve to strengthen the Y’s cause to strengthen the community. Specific Center Goals for Board Volunteers Attend board meetings at least 80% of the time. Assume an active role on a minimum of one standing Committee/task force Attend 3 volunteer events Time requirements of a board member: Board and Committee meetings: 1-2 hours/month YMCA Annual Campaign: 1-3 hours/week Volunteer Opportunities: 6-10 hours/year Length of Commitment: 3 year term/2 term max
The Advisory Board will be effective as a group when there is evidence of the following: Volunteerism in the community is impacted by the YMCA. 100% participation in the YMCA Annual Campaign. Annual campaign and otherfundraising goals are accomplished. The YMCA has a positive and prominent community image. Potential Advisory Board candidates have been identified. There is evidence of open exchange of ideas and communication with staff, fellow Advisory Board members, and Corporate Board of Directors. High member and program participant satisfaction. Committees are active and functioning. Healthy board meeting attendance.

Volunteers must complete all the required credentials before reporting for their first day of service, and coaches may not begin the season without completing all required references, background checks and training.
